Salobreña Dolphins

Throughout the year visitors to Salobreña thrill to the resident Dolphin population. These friendly creatures have graced the area for many years and especially during the summer months, perform daily.

They can be seen often from the Peñon Rock at the western end of Salobreña Beach and generally every morning and evening from vantage points along the western hills area.

On the Costa del Sol to the East of Malaga in the area known as "the Axarquia" lies the man made Lake Vinuela. Unspoiled by mass tourism

A brief introduction to Salobreña

Whilst Salobreña has maintained the Character of the real Spain it has also taken on, in a small way, something of an international flavour. You will find estate agents here that are very professional and able to look after you in many different languages and banks, taxation specialists, doctors, lawyers, dentists equal to those in the UK or any part of Europe. This has helped to make the area a first choice for many wishing to retire away from the harsher climate of Northern Europe. Medical care is first class - the new Motril Hospital is no more than 10 minutes from the village. Foreign daily newspapers are in the newsagents each morning before 10am. An excellent bus service operates to all Spanish destinations.

We have an abundance of good quality sports and recreation facilities both in and around Salobreña The Sports Centre welcomes all comers as does the Golf at Motril Beach. There are gymnasiums, dive centres and virtually every outdoor activity within minutes of the village. Tuition is available and equipment can be hired. Horse riding in nearby La Herradura and in the Alpujarra is a must if you enjoy this activity

You are sure to enjoy the wide range of good quality restaurants available right here in the village or scattered in every direction close by. Ranging from the most simple to the most expensive they include Chinese, French, Italian plus of course a wide choice of Spanish restaurants anxious to display their culinary talents. Restaurant prices are very low in this part of Spain when compared with the cities of Northern Europe but the standard is very high.

Salobreña as a holiday base is perfect throughout the whole year. Our weather is such that you will be able to enjoy the seamless indoor / outdoor lifestyle which has made the Costa Tropical so popular for so many years. The sea breezes ( al brisas ) are wonderful. Within easy striking distance of Malaga and Almeria we are close to Granada; Nerja and the Ski Resort of Sierra Nevada.

If you visit Salobreña in the winter months you can even sunbathe on the beach in the mornings and ski or snowboard at high altitudes in the afternoons.
