2 men face murder charges in NJ apartment parking lot shooting

Two men have been charged with murder in the murder of a 26-year-old Paterson, who was shot in the parking lot of a Bergen County apartment complex, authorities said on Wednesday.

Giovanni Feliciano, 22, of Garfield, and Jefersson Gonzalez, 21, of Paterson, are also charged with conspiracy to commit murder and weapons offenses in the murder of John Anthony DeLeon, 26, according to the Bergen County District Attorney’s Office.

DeLeon was shot on March 8 at around 4:30 p.m. in a parking lot of a garden apartment complex on Victor Street in Lodi, the prosecutor’s office said. The Paterson man died at a local hospital. Authorities have not commented on a possible motive for the attack.

Police found Feliciano, Gonzalez and a 24-year-old Paterson with firearms and drugs during searches of several residences as part of the investigation, authorities said.

Feliciano and Gonzalez were being held in Bergen County Jail ahead of court hearings, officials said. It was unclear if they had attorneys who could comment on the charges.
