WEYMOUTH – Jackson Square will be the first of four town villages to be honored as part of Weymouth’s 400th anniversary commemoration.
Jackson Square, Columbian Square, Bicknell and Weymouth Landing, as well as the area around City Hall, will host monthly events from May through September.
“We are thrilled to launch our Village Festival series in Jackson Square,” said George Raymond, Chairman of Weymouth 400. “Experience Our Villages festivals and events shine a light on the strong community that makes Weymouth so special.”
Weymouth 400 is the non-profit group tasked with marking the town’s anniversary.
Several events will be taking place in the Jackson Square area in May, including the Jackson Square/02189 Village Festival from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 14 on Broad Street between High and Commercial streets.

Country music artists Timmy Brown and Samantha Rae with Whiskey-6 will perform, and several dozen businesses, restaurants and organizations in the 02189 area code will set up booths. Tours of Weymouth’s Herring Run will also be offered.
Country music artist Ayla Brown and her husband, Rob Bellamy, will perform an acoustic show for Weymouth 400 at East Weymouth Congregational Church’s Sanctuary Hall in the heart of Jackson Square at 8 p.m. The set list will include original songs and popular covers. The show is free, but tickets are required through Eventbrite.
The Jackson Square celebration continues at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, with a performance by Donnie Norton and Steve Bass at Sanctuary Hall. The performance will include jazz and pop standards from singers such as Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. Visit Eventbrite for more information on free tickets.
Other events scheduled for the Jackson Square area include Food Truck Fridays from 5-8 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Lot; a Barrel House Z Village Beer launch party at noon on May 7; and the East Weymouth Congregational Church 200th Anniversary Event at 11.30am on May 22.
